We return after 48–96 hours, retrieve the monitor, and download the data. The CRM records radon concentration continuously throughout the test — giving us an accurate average and a full picture of fluctuation patterns.

Short-term professional radon tests using a Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM) run for 48–96 hours, depending on test type and site conditions. Results are available shortly after the device is retrieved. Long-term tests run for 90 days or more and provide a more representative picture of annual exposure.
The EPA recommends action at 4.0 pCi/L or higher. At that level, your annual radon exposure is roughly equivalent to smoking 8 cigarettes per day. The EPA also recommends considering mitigation at levels between 2.0–4.0 pCi/L. There is no level of radon exposure that carries zero risk. The outdoor average is approximately 0.4 pCi/L — meaning any measurable indoor concentration above that represents elevated exposure.
A Continuous Radon Monitor is an electronic device that measures and logs radon concentration at regular intervals throughout the test period. Unlike passive charcoal canisters — which provide a single averaged result — a CRM captures real-time fluctuations, detects interference conditions, and produces a full data record. CRM-based testing is required for NRPP accreditation and is the standard used in real estate transactions and regulatory testing.
No. Once the device is placed, you go about your normal routine. The only requirement is maintaining closed-building conditions — keeping exterior windows and doors closed as much as possible during the test period. We'll walk you through what that means when we deploy the monitor.
The EPA recommends testing all homes below the third floor, regardless of age, construction type, or location. You should test: when buying or selling a home, if you've never tested before, every two years if you have a mitigation system installed, and after any major renovation affecting your foundation, basement, or lower-level air sealing.
