Professional Mold Remediation — Safe, Thorough, and CDC-Aligned

Visible mold is only part of the picture. Mold spores circulate invisibly through your home's air long before — and long after — visible growth appears. In Montana's climate, mold is a persistent risk in crawlspaces, lower levels, and anywhere moisture management is imperfect.

Bozeman Radon & Mold provides professional mold testing and indoor air quality assessment for homes, commercial buildings, and rental properties throughout Gallatin County. Our testing gives you documented, defensible results — not guesswork — so you know exactly what you're dealing with and what to do about it.

MOLD TESTING OPTIONS

Air Quality (Spore Trap) Testing

  • Captures and analyzes airborne mold spore concentration and species

  • Establishes indoor vs. outdoor baseline to identify active contamination

  • Detects mold that is not yet visible — inside walls, below flooring, in HVAC systems

  • Required for post-remediation clearance testing

  • Recommended when: musty odors are present, occupants have unexplained symptoms, water intrusion has occurred

Surface & Swab Testing

  • Direct sampling of visible growth for species identification

  • Useful for: insurance documentation, legal purposes, determining remediation approach

  • Results sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis

Post-Remediation Clearance Testing

  • Confirms airborne spore counts have returned to acceptable levels after remediation

  • Required by many insurance carriers and property management protocols

  • Provides documented clearance for real estate transactions and tenant re-occupancy

WHAT THE RESULTS TELL YOU

Mold test results are compared against outdoor baseline samples and established reference ranges to determine whether indoor concentrations represent a normal background level or an active contamination problem. We provide a plain-language summary alongside the laboratory report — so you understand not just the numbers, but what they mean for your health, your property, and your next step.

MOLD REMEDIATION FAQs

  • Consumer mold test kits — typically petri dish settle plates — are designed to detect whether mold is present, not to quantify concentration, identify species, or establish whether levels are hazardous. Professional spore trap testing measures actual airborne spore counts, compares them to outdoor baselines, and identifies species through accredited laboratory analysis. The results are defensible for insurance claims, real estate transactions, and legal purposes. DIY kit results are not.

  • You should consider professional mold testing when: you notice a persistent musty odor without visible growth; occupants are experiencing unexplained respiratory symptoms or allergies; your home has experienced water intrusion, flooding, or high indoor humidity; you're buying or selling a property with a crawlspace or basement; or you've recently completed mold remediation and need clearance confirmation.

  • Contact us for current pricing. We offer visual inspections to assess whether formal testing is warranted — in some cases, the scope of visible growth or the source of moisture is sufficient to determine a remediation plan without laboratory testing. We'll give you a straight answer about what level of testing makes sense for your situation.

  • Not always — but it depends on the situation. If visible growth is present and the moisture source is identified, we can often proceed directly to remediation. Testing is most valuable when: the extent of hidden mold is unknown; species identification is needed for health or legal reasons; or post-remediation clearance documentation is required. We'll recommend the approach that makes the most sense for your specific situation.
